Milton’s Marquis “Big Baby” Robinson has his sights set on the Loveliest Village on the Plains.
Robinson announced his verbal commitment to Auburn University late Saturday night via his personal Twitter account. Milton head coach Harry Lees’ also posted congratulations regarding Robinson’s commitment.
Boasting a four-star composite rating on 247 Sports, Robinson has been among the Pensacola area’s top prospects since breaking onto recruiting radars in the summer of 2019. Robinson’s double-digit offer totals included powerhouses like Alabama, Georgia and Ohio State.
A Top 20 Defensive Lineman
247 Sports currently rates Robinson among the nation’s top defensive lineman, listing him at No. 18 in his position group for the Class of 2021.
Auburn defensive coordinator Kevin Steele and assistant Rodney Garner were tapped as Robinson’s lead recruiters. Robinson visited Auburn twice unofficially in 2019, his most frequently visited school.
Lighter, Leaner, Faster
Trimming down to 6-foot-3, 305 pounds this offseason, Robinson has attempted to build his agility and athleticism ahead of his final high school football campaign.
An imposing presence and thus an important target for opposing offensive lines, Robinson was often the target of double and triple teams by opponents during his junior season.
Milton’s Rising Prospects
Robinson and rising sophomore wide receiver Raymond Cottrell are among the blue-chip recruits enlarging the profile of Milton High School football.
2023 wide receiver Raymond Cottrell picked up Power 5 offers from schools like Tennessee and Florida State before he’d ever played a high school down. His recruitment has so far produced eight offers, including Auburn, Georgia and Miami.
Robinson’s rise up recruiting charts has corresponded to improved fortunes for Milton football under Lees.
The Panthers finished just 3-7 during Robinson’s sophomore campaign but improved to 5-5 in 2019, finishing just short of a berth in the FHSAA playoffs.
