The Santa Rosa County Sheriff’s Office on Tuesday confirmed the death of one of the agency's deputies.

"It is with deep regret that we announce the passing of Santa Rosa County Deputy Sheriff Charles Pugh II," said SRSO spokesman Sgt. Rich Aloy in a news release.

Pugh was employed by the SRSO for five years and worked as a deputy in the agency's Detention Division.

Santa Rosa County Sheriff Bob Johnson would not comment on the cause or circumstances of Pugh's death at a press conference Tuesday.

Pugh was also an active member of the Sheriff’s Honor Guard.

"We ask that you please keep Deputy Pugh, his family, and friends in your prayers," Aloy said in the release.

Arrangements for services will be forthcoming, according to the SRSO.
