Tracking storm weather: Tropical conditions for Monday, Aug. 31

The National Hurricane Center is tracking four tropical waves, including one in the Caribbean and another northeast of Florida.

Here's the latest update from the NHC as of Monday, Aug. 31: 

What are their chances of forming?

Disturbance 1: This tropical wave has a 70 percent chance of development over the next 48 hours and an 80 percent chance over the next five days, according to the latest advisory from the National Hurricane Center.

The National Hurricane Center said a tropical depression is likely to form during the next couple of days.

Disturbance 2: This tropical wave has a 70 percent chance of development over the next 48 hours and a 70 percent chance over the next five days.

A tropical depression is likely to form within a day or so.

Disturbance 3: This tropical wave has a near 0 percent chance of development over the next 48 hours and a 30 percent chance over the next five days.

Disturbance 4: This tropical wave has a near 0 percent chance of development over the next 48 hours and a 10 percent chance over the next five days.

Where are they?

Disturbance 1: This broad area of low pressure is associated with a tropical wave over the central Caribbean Sea.

Disturbance 2: This area of low pressure is located about 150 miles south-southeast of Wilmington, North Carolina.

Disturbance 3: A tropical wave is expected to emerge off the coast of Africa in a couple of days.

Disturbance 4: Another tropical wave is located over the eastern Atlantic Ocean, several hundred miles southwest of the Cabo Verde Islands.
